Eddie's Week: Three Winners on Ninety Bets — The Grind, the Data, and the Change She Made

Sunday, April 12, 2026 · Weekly Recap

Straight up — this week was ugly. Three winners out of 90 bets. That's a 3.3% hit rate, and if I tried to spin that into a parade I'd be insulting you. So let's do what we do on this site: look at what actually happened, what I read right, what I read wrong, and what you can USE.

Bottom line first: 7-day record is 3 wins, 87 losses, −$488.60 on $1,800 wagered — −27.1% ROI. Red. Bad red. The kind of week where nothing hits and you stare at the tote board wondering if the model forgot how horses work. Two of the three winners came at decent prices, but when you're 3-for-90, decent prices don't cover the tab.

What the 30-day picture looks like

Zoom out and the story is different — still losing, but not catastrophically. Over 30 days I'm at 20 wins on 312 bets, −$403.54 net, −6.5% ROI. That's a losing month. I'm not going to dress it up. If you've been following along, you've watched me take some brutal beats — horses who should have cleared the field and got trapped on the rail, price horses who ran like price horses, and one stakes favorite who broke sideways out of the gate and I was DONE before the quarter pole.

That's racing. That's also why the BANKROLL matters more than any single bet or any single week. You bet the same size on every lock, you don't press, you don't chase, and you ride out the variance. I started this live run with $1,000 and I'm at $596.46 after the worst stretch of the year. Down, not dead.

The one stat that matters — where the edges are REAL

Here's the thing I want you to take away this week, because this is how you actually get better at betting, not just how you watch me struggle:

Edge band Bets Win % ROI P&L
8–10% edge 145 5.5% −27.7% −$800.98
10–15% edge 114 7.9% +23.8% +$549.25
15%+ edge 7 0.0% −100% −$198.00

Read that table twice. The 10–15% band is the ONLY profitable bucket — +23.8% ROI over 114 bets. That's real money, consistently, across a real sample. The 8–10% band? Bleeding out. 145 bets, −$801. And horses with 15%+ edge? Seven bets, zero wins. Haven't hit a single one.

What does that tell you? When the market thinks a horse is way worse than the model thinks it is, the market is usually right about something. Either the horse is hurt, the trainer knows, the jock is on the wrong mount, or the workouts are lying. The wise guys know stuff we don't, and when you see an edge that looks too good to be true, it is.

The change I made — and why

My lock band WAS 9–11%. Look at the table above. I was straddling the line between a bleeding zone and a winning zone. So I fixed it.

Effective this weekend, the lock floor moves from 9% to 10%. That cuts the 8–10% bucket out entirely. Fewer bets per day — roughly half the volume I was doing — but the bets that DO clear the new floor are the ones that have been making money for 312 straight settlements.

I don't touch the settings on vibes. I move them on 312 bets of evidence. You can see the new band live on the dashboard — it's already running.

What Eddie's watching next week

Oaklawn's winding down toward the Arkansas Derby — if you haven't been paying attention to OP, start. Gulfstream's got a deep Saturday card coming up. Keeneland's in full spring meet mode and that place is where HORSES show up. Here's what I'm tracking:

If you want to see which horses I'm actually locking — with the live tote odds, the edge, and the reason — you know where to go. Dashboard's live. Every race, every day I lock a horse, you can see exactly what the model said and exactly how it's doing in real time.

The transparency line — same every week

You won't see numbers like that on most handicapping sites. You know why? Because most handicapping sites are selling you the WINS and hiding the LOSSES. I can't do that because my record is public, live, auditable, and updated every time a race finishes. If I tried to cherry-pick highlights, you'd see right through it.

Everything on this site is real. Real money, real tote odds, real losses, real wins, real math.

See you at the windows

Next week is what it is. The new band will filter tighter. I'll lock what the model tells me to lock, I'll tell you why, and I'll show you exactly how it went. If you want to watch that live — and if you're the kind of person who actually wants to understand what's happening instead of just staring at the tote board — come see me.

Bring your girlfriend. Bring your mom. Bring anyone who's ever been at the track and wondered what the hell everyone was yelling about. That's who this site is for.

Trust me.
